Conway 2017

Class: Hazel Year: 2017 - 2018

Wednesday 13th September: we had a good journey to Conway - we sang, laughed and chatted.  After we arrived we had a tour of the centre and once we'd had lunch we went down to the harbour to build our own rafts! Fortunately, they all floated! LTer that evening, we enjoyed a "Bin bag" fashion show and then went to bed.

Thursday 14th September: we were up early and once Mr Lewis had had his first cup of tea we headed off for breakfast. We had a super morning discovering life on the sea shore and learnt lots about different species. We've had a brilliant afternoon canoeing - we paddled up the Menai Strait towards the bridge and explored some hidden beaches and the historic indoor swimming pool of Lord Angelsey! We nearly made it back onto dry land without anyone falling in...Louis, Arran and Oliver B! We heard the splash and then fits of laughter from the three boys!

Friday 15th September: as I am sat here with a (another) cup of tea I am reflecting on what an honour it has been to take away 20 children and bring home 20 young people. It is a privilege to witness, even over a short period of time, how much they have grown and developed in confidence and resilience. This morning, after a quick packing of suitcases (sorry parents - be careful when you open them tonight) and breakfast we headed off to the woods and quarry for our Bushcraft session or Via Ferrata. We had great fun traversing the face of the quarry that provided the stone for Plas Newydd and the stables. Some of us also learnt some useful skills out in the to build a shelter, a camp fire and a simple dough mix.

I'm sure there will be some sleepy heads tonight. Have a great weekend!
