Science at Smallwood
Science is taught in a practical and investigative manner. We aim to teach science through our topics and relate it to the world around us, so it is meaningful to the children. We are lucky to have the natural environment around us that lends itself to field work on our doorsteps.
We encourage the pupils to develop their natural sense of enquiry through investigating, theorising, planning and forming conclusions through investigations and experiments in the classroom.
Along side this investigative approach we develop their subject knowledge and scientific vocabulary, though formal lessons that gives the children the confidence to ask scientific questions. The children enjoy the acquisition and then application of their knowledge.
